Thursday 4 August
Another rest day. Drove with Pat and Allan to Linn of Dee and walked up Glen Lui to Derry Lodge and a bit beyond. Beautiful remote valley, which the National Trust is slowly rescuing from the damage caused by years of overgrazing by deer.
Long distance path through Glen Luibeg, leading eventually through to Aviemore.
Back to the White House for dinner: Bob, Pat, Chris S., Michael, Frances, Lois, Patrick, ...
... and on the other side of the table Lois, Patrick, Jonathan, Eric, Bernadette, Allan.
Friday 5 August
With Allan and Bob, walked up Glen Ey (another beautiful, empty valley) to the ruins of Altanour Lodge, then up Carn Bhac. Back over Carn Creagach and down its long northern ridge to Glen Ey. Weather was changeable to say the least, cold and windy with some heavy showers.
Pause for a snack by the remains of Altanour Lodge.
"Just a passing shower": a quick lunch on the wet, windy summit of Carn Bhac.
Back to the White House, on a sunny evening.
