Tuesday 2 August
A much needed rest day. I drove to Linn of Dee and Linn of Quoich and pottered among picturesque glens with pools and waterfalls.
A little waterfall near Linn of Dee.
Another waterfall, Linn of Quoich.
"The Punch Bowl," a hole in the rock at Linn of Quoich.
Wednesday 3 August
Bob's friend Trevor came to visit for the day. I went with them to climb Cairn of Claise, Tom Buidhe, Tolmount and Carn an Tuirc. Dry, but cold and very windy up on top. Good dinner at the Glenisla Hotel (I had smoked mackerel paté, steak pie, cranachan, real ale).
Bob (leaning against the wind) and Trevor on Tom Buidhe. Tolmount is the grassy hill behind them.
View from Tolmount down Glen Callater.
Another flat stony hilltop. Me on Carn an Tuirc.
Old stone bridge at the base of Carn an Tuirc, presumably part of the military road built after the 1745 Jacobite Rising.
